My support

The week of surgery, I asked everyone I knew to wear burgundy, the AVM awareness color, to show their support.
Little did I know that this idea would spread to many people besides friends and family. Throughout the week, people would wear burgundy and take a photo with the caption "Burgundy for Amy". This really helped me stay strong for surgery, as I would receive Snapchats, text messages, and other well wishes for the scariest day of my life.
My parents wore burgundy the day of surgery and those who came to visit me also wore it. Once surgery was over and I was a little more with it, my sister Melissa showed me all of the photos that people had sent her while I was under. This is one of the few things I remember from the day of surgery as medications and anesthesia made me very groggy for a couple of days.
I am very thankful for everyone who wore burgundy for me, whether I knew them or not. I am also thankful for all of the recovery gifts I received from friends and family. Without the support I received, I never would have been able to stay as strong as I did!
I have included the photos I was sent, but may be missing some. Also, some people did not take photos, which is why I included the photo of me and my family.
People still continue to support me everyday, as I am almost 3 months post operation! If you are interested in helping me with my medical costs, check out my fundraiser, as I cannot work until my first 90 days are finished. Click the link underneath to donate or share!
